This is Sharon, mother of Sarah. Iain and I have just returned to Gisborne after a few days in Christchurch supporting Sarah and Matt while they moved into their new home in Penruddock Rise.
I felt I must email and say what an amazing, beautiful home they now have, thanks to your leadership, and you and your team’s incredible professional and excellent service and communication, especially in these difficult times of supply of materials and health of the workers. Having built a home in Gisborne many years ago, we appreciate how many people are involved and the timing and co-ordinating of tradesmen is a real juggling act.
Thank you all so much, this young couple are so excited and happy to be there and I’m sure will continue to enjoy that home for many many years into the future.
Holloway’s managed our building project right through from the ideas & design stage, to the finished home & landscaping. All our questions were dealt with very promptly. We were also given a lot of space to introduce our own ideas at the design stage. This meant that we ended up with a tailor-made home that fitted our family needs really, very well. One of the positive aspects was that any issues or concerns were addressed very promptly. We discussed at the start how important good communication was and this was handled really well, with lots of information and consultation provided. We love our new home, and see ourselves living there a long time, but we would highly recommend Holloway’s to others.

Sitting down with James and the architect we had lots of ideas about the home we wanted to live in. Leaving that meeting we felt confident that we would have a design and builder that would build something special for us. One thing that stood out above all at our first meeting was that James was a perfectionist and everything that Holloways put its name to would be built that way.
The build process from start to finish went as promised and the communication throughout was exceptional; nothing was ever a problem, even as we made changes as the build progressed. Everyone at Holloways including their suppliers and sub-contractors were very easy to deal with and delivered us a build of the highest quality.
We highly recommend Holloway’s to anyone that is considering building a home…you won’t be disappointed!
It was good to get the builder on board with the architect, right at the very beginning because then we were all on the same page and they all knew exactly what I wanted and how best to go about providing that.
I didn’t see any great reason to come around to the property and check on their work because I had trust in them.
The communication between Holloways and their team was excellent. I could say something to one team member, they would discuss it inhouse and the right answer would be forthcoming.
They were great with their attention to detail, came back several times, particularly over the paint job, they just wanted everything to be absolutely perfect, and that is how it should be done.
Now that I’m in, it was well worth waiting for. The build process took the best part of 18 months from the consent time till now. Loving the place, lots of space, lots of light, very well done.
I’m really looking forward to having a party and showing the place off!

Holloway Builders made us feel comfortable, at ease and as if nothing would be a problem. Our questions were always answered really quickly. We trusted them, we didn’t need to be there all the time second guessing. Building a home is a big investment so you have to really trust your builders and their team.
Every Friday we would receive a progress report updating us on what had happened during the week and what was scheduled for the following. The whole process was simple and stress-free really.
It’s a great home! We love the flow and the way we’ve got a great living area at both ends. We love the quietness of a back section and just the overall look of the house.
The beginning part of the process really attracted us to Holloway Builders because we knew that they would work in with us, so we could get the house we really wanted, it was really great going through the consent process with Holloways.
We have built before, on the hill and a couple of town houses, so we came into this knowing that we wanted a particular look and so it was very important to have a building company that was going to work in with us on that. It was definitely a two-way street. Lots of decision making throughout the whole process which we enjoyed, coming to grips with and having a great result. A build like this isn’t cheap, you have stresses involved in making sure you are keeping to budget. Holloways worked with us to make sure that was the case and we were very pleased with the outcome achieved. Holloway Builders didn’t push their opinions, they really just listened to what we wanted and then worked through with us. Never at any time did we think we were getting something we didn’t really want.
They were always happy to work with us and meet with us when necessary, give us advice and just really keen to make sure we were happy with what they achieved for us. They have got a really great team, they are all switched on, they know their business back to front. I think we got a better a house than we imagined we were going to have when we started the project.
We wanted an architecturally designed, unique family home that was timeless in design, energy efficient and earthquake resilient. With help from Holloway Builders our Architect got our plans through Council for consent within three weeks which was very impressive. Our architect had full faith in Holloway Builders and is very impressed with the overall quality of our finished home. Holloways went out of their way to keep our established garden and that’s not easy on a construction site. From our point of view, Holloways completed our home on time and within budget in a very challenging environment.

They were always consultative, always on the end of the phone, always at the end of an email.
There was never a time delay with any of the questions we had. Holloways always listened.
With the Architect on board as well, we ended up with lovely cathedral ceilings and nice lighting effects. Holloway Builders helped with proportions and positioning the right sort of spaces within our home.

Being a bit of a perfectionist myself, the prospect of building a new home was a bit daunting. With Holloway Builders I was able to use my own, individualised design and they delivered a well above standard result at a standard price. Great attention to detail, transparent and very accurate accounting, quality craftsmanship and most importantly great communication made the build a truly pleasurable experience. When we were looking for a company to build with, we wanted one that could work with our own design and ideas. Holloway Builders allowed us the freedom to to include features and finishes that were really important to us, they took our own concept ideas right through design to consent drawings.
While living in Nelson through the build, the whole process went smoothly and I was kept up to date with progress all the way through. We are really pleased we chose Holloway Builders. All our wants and needs have been satisfied, we just love living in our new home.
